As of
April 2006, the sale of urban fiction books had risen to an estimated
$50,000,000 annually. This astounding increase depicts sales reported by bookstores and
other tracking sources, but does not account for the multitude of books sold
on inner-city streets that captured the attention of major book publishing
companies. It takes a powerful force to make a billion dollar
industry take notice. Urban fiction did, and continues to do, just that.
YouTube, Myspace, Black
Planet, Facebook, and
other online, social networking sites are home to numerous authors
making a living literally selling their books hand-to-hand; taking their
products to the people who've proven the most likely to purchase.
Urban fiction has
gained a strong, dedicated following of African Americans and continues to
gain the attention and support of avid readers of other cultures. The
growing interest is such that not even this current, weakened economy has
greatly hampered sales, making urban fiction one of few existing markets of
its kind with the
potential to generate favorable revenues in these trying times.
The mission of
CME Publishings is to command a sizable percentage of the urban
fiction market, thereby sealing our place in the forefront of the literary
industry amongst mid-sized publishing houses, imprints, and independents.
Our goal is to achieve this feat within the first two years of operations.
To accomplish such, we will implement an aggressively, innovative marketing
campaign of proportions yet to be seen in the publishing realm; methods that
extend beyond "thinking out the box" yet are proven, practical, and
realistic.
CME Publishings will specialize in the development, creation and sale of
urban fiction and non-fiction books, and promotional and fan-based items and
is currently considering partnerships. If you're interested in joining
forces,
