My Spiritual Journey
Who's Business Is It,
Really?

The age old excuse used
when we don't want our feel good moments interrupted is, "it's my business,
not yours". But, is it, really?
Considering the fact that
what we do in our personal lives effects everyone we come into contact with,
as well as many persons whom we'll probably never meet, isn't it wise that
we consider others before taking action? Yes, it is your personal
life and, legally, no one has the right to meddle in it, nor dictate how you
should live it. But, what about morally? Spiritually? Is it not the right,
if not obligation of fellow believers to assist us when we falter, or
otherwise stray from what we've proclaimed to believe is right? I think it
is, but that's just me. What about you?
While I seriously doubt
the masses are going to jump into "it's not just about me" mode and began
taking this thing we call life as well as our places in it a lot more
seriously, I strongly suggest that my faith based, sisters and brothers in
the Lord do just that. How selfish would we be to do otherwise? And where is
the Godliness in being selfish?
In reality, the only time
we play the "it's not your business" card is when we don't want to be
corrected -- corrected being the operative word. Truth is, we can't be
corrected unless we're engaging, or planning to engage, in something that
is, by our own standards, incorrect. And, if our walk with God is truly to
stand with Him in the afterlife, should we not be willing, in fact striving
to uphold His word, His way, above our own? Or, are we so well informed that
we can rewrite His laws so that they more readily suit our own personal
enjoyments?
Then there are those
who say His word has been tampered with. Those who ask the question, "who
can know what's right and wrong when so many hands have put pen to paper in
the name of interpreting His word?" A legitimate question and rightly asked
for those who choose to see it that way. To you I say simply, when Biblical
sense doesn't equal up, use common sense. He gave us all a measure of that
as well. Look at the thing you intend to do and ask yourself, is this a
benefit, or detriment to society? And, if society is too broad a scope, look
at those around you, those whom you love and treasure beyond yourself and
determine if your actions, in the dark, or in the light, are something
they'll be proud of -- something they can grow from and pass onto their seed
and the generations to come after. If the answer is yes and you're not
criminally, nor psychologically insane, then go forth and know that you've
done a great service to yourself as well as those you love. But, if the
answer is no, don't do it on that day, or at that time, then work diligently
to discipline yourself so that you won't do it on any other day, or at any
other time.
Obedience to God is a
step-by-step process. One day, one incident at a time. One temptation. One
decision. One struggle. One triumph. One failure. One success. It's an
individual journey and just as you came into the world alone, you will
surely go into the next realm the same. However, that doesn't mean you have
to struggle alone, or should risk stumbling in your walk because you're too
ashamed, proud, or otherwise unwilling to reach out, or let someone else in.
God sees everything we do and knows that which we are planning, good and
bad. He's the only judge that matters, so why do we spend so much time
hiding from everyone else?
I encourage all persons of
faith to step out in faith and allow God to guide you. Allow His children,
identified by their works, to help you along. And, in doing so, I believe we
all can be something of great value and tribute to the generations we so
greatly effect today, as well as those to come.
Yes, we all want to smile,
to be happy and enjoy the fruits of this existence as we prepare for the
next. But, when's the last time we made God smile? True happiness will be
enjoyed when that becomes our priority above all else.
This has been
C's Take. Why do I bother? BCuz I care! Really,
I do!
